About the role - you will:
· Help develop novel wet unit processes for advanced magnetic recording head wafer builds · Develop new solution-based approaches for additive or subtractive processing of metal and dielectric thin films · Investigate responses of films and associated nanostructures to new processes including detailed geometric and physical property assessment · Work with engineering staff to implement processes in patterning flows and validate using wafer-level test structures · Perform work with team of PhD engineers in lab and clean room environments using different experimental techniques including wet etch, anodic removal, electrodeposition, CMP and associated metrologies such as ellipsometry, AFM, XRF, resistivity, SEM/TEM, FIB, or analytical chemistry techniques

· You are self-motivated, intellectually curious, able to work independently and have a strong attention to detail · You are an honest and respectful team player, capable of working in strong partnership with a diverse group of engineers and technicians · You are able to maintain thorough documentation of results and be able to clearly discuss them with other staff members in engineering and management forums · You are able and eager to work in a mix of clean room and laboratory environment
Your experience includes:
· Graduate course work with hands-on experience in wet processing and thin film characterization, with particular consideration given to backgrounds in liquid/surface interactions, surface reactions, etch chemistry, corrosion, electrodeposition or CMP · Knowledge of basic analysis and presentation software (Excel, Powerpoint, JMP…) · Knowledge of standard statistical experimentation methods including hypothesis testing, DOE design and analysis and ANOVA is a plus · Prior experience working in an industrial laboratory or clean room environment is a plus · Pursuing a Masters or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or related science and engineering fields and must be enrolled in Fall 2026 classes.

The estimated base wage range for this position is $22-$43/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan. Seagate also offers Interns 12 paid holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave. The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.
