The Characterization and Analytics Group (CAG) is an organization within Recording Head Technology (RHT) to develop recording head test processes and assess recording head performance and reliability.

About the role - you will:

 

Work in the Characterization & Analytics Group test recording sub-system team, which is responsible for delivering next generation recording heads for new HAMR products. Team ownership includes device physics understanding, design verification and test development.

 

Job responsibilities include:

 

  • Hands-on electrical test development to support the new recording head/media development
  • Recording head design verification and device physics understanding
  • Perform data mining or DOE to deep dive into device failures, provide root cause and solutions

Your experience includes:

 

  • Test development on comprehensive electrical/mechanical systems
  • Hard disk drive industry R&D experience
  • Knowledge of DOE, six sigma and basic statistics
  • Knowledge of physical (magnetic, optical, electrical, and mechanical) properties of thin film materials and devices
  • Knowledge of semiconductor laser design, fabrication, and characterization
  • Characterization tools such as AFM, SEM, TEM, XPS, etc.
  • Programming experience in Python, JMP, C/C++, etc.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science, and 8+ years of experience, or Master’s degree in similar degree fields and 6+ years of experience, or PhD in Physics, Academic Research related to Magnetics, Spintronics, or Semiconductor Lasers and 3+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience

 

Salary: The estimated base salary range for this position is: $105,600.00 - $154,000.00. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
