Data Scientist - GenAI & Autonomous Manufacturing

Location:

Bloomington, MN, US

Posting Date:  Mar 20, 2026
Job ID:  13690

About our group:

The Data Science Team is a highly skilled group within the Global Factory IT organization, dedicated to designing, developing, and deploying advanced solutions across global factories. This team’s commitment to excellence has earned them industry awards for their innovation, superior systems, and significant value delivery. We are seeking a Data Scientist to drive the implementation of GenAI and ML/DL across our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will architect and deploy scalable AI solutions that improve product quality, optimize production efficiency, and modernize engineering workflows through advanced analytics, agentic AI, and GenAI‑driven automation, supporting the organization’s broader agentic shift toward intelligent, autonomous digital workflows.

About the role - you will:

  • Lead ML/DL initiatives to improve manufacturing processes, increase yield, reduce scrap, enable predictive maintenance, and optimize production using complex tabular, image, and time‑series data from machines and sensors.
  • Build and scale GenAI agents, RAG systems, and LLM‑powered applications that enable autonomous and semi‑autonomous decision‑making, enhance engineering productivity, streamline documentation and troubleshooting, and automate internal knowledge management in alignment with the agentic shift strategy.
  • Deploy and operate AI systems using microservices architectures, with robust CI/CD pipelines, MLOps/LLMOps, and production‑grade reliability to support scalable, always‑on agentic workflows.
  • Tackle ambiguous, high‑impact manufacturing and engineering problems by framing the right questions, isolating meaningful signals in noisy data, and delivering end‑to‑end AI solutions, from problem definition through production deployment, to drive measurable business value.
  • Elevate team capabilities through hands‑on technical leadership, setting high standards for code quality, CI/CD, and responsible AI practices, particularly for agent‑based and autonomous AI systems.

About you:

  • Leadership and Communication: Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, influence stakeholders, and communicate complex insights effectively to technical and executive audiences.
  • Relentless drive to innovate, proactively solve complex problems and push the boundaries of AI implementation in manufacturing environments.

Your experience includes:

  • Strong proficiency in Python and modern AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, AutoML). Experience with LLM‑based application development, including RAG patterns, vector databases, agent frameworks, and modern GenAI APIs.
  • Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes and MLOps/LLMOps in production or industrial environments.
  • Experience working with factory sensor data, machine logs, production line analytics or predictive failure models.
  • Pursuring a Master’s degree or PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science and Engineering or a related field.
