Seagate MNC is searching for a Facilities Mechanic & Gas Delivery Technician.   This position supports Seagate’s Bloomington, MN operations – a 700,000 square foot, highly technical facility, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

About the role - you will:

The Building Mechanic & Gas Delivery Technician is a highly motivated professional responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing building systems, mechanical equipment, and facility support systems. This position plays a critical safety role by supporting Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems (GMS/TGM) and gas delivery operations, directly contributing to employee safety, facility protection, and operational reliability.

 

Dual Role Position: Approximately 80% Mechanical / 20% Gas Delivery & Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems (GMS/TGM).


This role collaborates closely with the Emergency Response Team (ERT) during alarm events, providing technical expertise to ensure safe, timely, and compliant resolution. The position typically works Tuesday–Saturday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM, with hours subject to change.

 

Mechanical & Facility Maintenance (Approx. 80%)

  • Respond to in-house mechanical emergency service calls and perform repairs throughout the facility.
  • Perform general building maintenance including mechanical repairs, plumbing, and facility support work.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment and building support systems.
  • Perform predictive and preventive maintenance on compressors, process vacuum systems, pumps, and related equipment.
  • Support manufacturing and engineering teams with installation, modification, and repair of production equipment.

 

Gas Delivery & Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems (Approx. 20%)

  • Install, maintain, test, calibrate, and troubleshoot Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems (GMS/TGM), including detectors, alarms, and controllers.
  • Respond to gas monitoring alarms, diagnose system faults, and provide technical support during Emergency Response Team (ERT) events.
  • Conduct daily operational rounds, perform safety inspections, and monitor online gas and chemical monitoring systems.
  • Perform cylinder and dewar delivery, exchange, and hookup for specialty, toxic, and high-purity gases.
  • Conduct required leak checks following cylinder or dewar change-outs, maintenance, or system modifications.
  • Verify correct gas type, labeling, pressure, flow direction, and system configuration prior to returning equipment to service.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to support safe and compliant gas delivery operations.
  • Safety, Compliance & Documentation
  • Strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures including Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and PPE requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, CGA, and applicable regulatory and internal standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance procedures, calibration records, and system documentation.
  • Participate in audits, incident reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and cost reduction.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and handle tools and materials.
  • Ability to work in cleanroom or advanced manufacturing environments while wearing required garments and PPE.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, work at heights, and operate forklifts and scissor lifts.
  • Ability to perform routine and repetitive motions consistent with maintenance procedures.

About you:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 4–5 years of experience with Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems (GMS/TGM).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and facility maintenance experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • HAZWOPER training required or ability to become trained.
  • Willing to work 2nd shift, Tuesday–Saturday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM 

Your experience includes:

  • Experience in semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing environments.
  • Experience using SAP CMMS or similar systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Associate’s degree or two-year technical education

The estimated base wage range for this position is $26.44 - $37.82/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position will include an additional Lead Premium of 10%.
