About the role - you will:

We are hiring a Sr. Staff Business Development Lead – China to build Seagate’s business presence in China’s emerging Physical AI ecosystem, including robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, embodied AI, vision AI, industrial edge, and VIA opportunities.
This role focuses on ecosystem development, market creation, early customer and partner engagement, and identifying where future data infrastructure demand will emerge. The lead will translate China ecosystem signals into business insight, strategic direction, and new growth opportunities for Seagate.
The role partners closely with Cloud Architecture, Product Marketing, Market Intelligence, Product Management, and global BD teams to influence infrastructure requirements before architectures are fixed and connect China opportunities with global strategy and execution.
1) Ecosystem Development and Market Creation
• Build and expand strategic relationships across China’s Physical AI ecosystem, including customers, partners, OEMs, VIA players, developers, startups, research institutions, and technology providers.
• Map priority segments, target accounts, partner networks, and decision makers across Physical AI and edge markets.
• Identify emerging areas where data creation, storage, retention, governance, and lifecycle requirements may drive future infrastructure demand.
• Develop ecosystem engagement strategies that position Seagate early in market formation and technology adoption cycles.
2) Strategic Business Development
• Develop and execute a prioritized engagement plan for China Physical AI opportunities, including VIA where it supports the strategy.
• Support strategic customer and partner engagements by aligning ecosystem needs with Seagate’s technology portfolio and future roadmap.
• Incubate new opportunities that can evolve into scalable business pipeline and partnership models.
• Work with Cloud Architecture, CTO Office, Product teams, and ecosystem partners to influence reference architectures, infrastructure stacks, and deployment models.
3) Market Insight and Cross-Team Impact
• Develop deep understanding of how data is generated, processed, moved, protected, and retained across Physical AI environments.
• Translate customer and partner learnings into product, architecture, market intelligence, and solution strategy input.
• Represent China Physical AI market insights in global planning and help align customer needs, ecosystem trends, and Seagate’s long-term growth strategy.
• Partner across Product Marketing, Architecture, Market Intelligence, Product Management, and global BD teams to turn China insights into aligned actions.
Success Measures
• Quality and growth of strategic ecosystem relationships, including access to key customers, partners, VIA players, and industry leaders.
• Creation of new business and partnership opportunities that can mature into scalable pipeline.
• Influence on emerging Physical AI infrastructure architectures, reference designs, and deployment models.
• Market intelligence and ecosystem insights that shape Seagate’s business, product, and growth strategy.
• Identification of future storage, data management, and infrastructure growth opportunities.

About you:

• Ability to build executive and technical relationships across customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to connect technical infrastructure trends with market creation, customer engagement, and business growth.
• Strong strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Your experience includes:

• Strong business development, ecosystem, or strategic partnership experience in AI, robotics, autonomous systems, industrial technology, edge computing, VIA, or related fields.
• Fluent in Mandarin and English; willingness to travel within China.

Location:

Beijing / Shanghai / Shenzhen / Hangzhou preferred; exceptional candidates in other China locations will also be considered.
