Posting Start Date:  11/5/26
Requisition Id:  15127
Job Description:

About our group:

Seagate’s Global Factory Information Technology (GFIT) organization is a global team with resources around our high-tech manufacturing sites located in the United States, Asia, and Northern Ireland. We’re a global organization servicing the IT needs of R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing and Equipment management for Seagate Global Factory. The Penang GFIT team is a key development hub that provides world class application development and solutions with innovative technology. Our team embraces Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), a popular framework that improves project delivery, decreased time-to-market, and increased stakeholder value. Our team is one of the pioneers to adopt modern tools and engineering practices toward IT 4.0.

About the role - you will:

  • Work with experienced developers and a multi-site Agile team to build AI-native solutions for Seagate's wafer and factory operations.
  • Help build and refine AI agent skills and agentic workflows on the AI platforms for lot holds, scrap, and ship-window risk analysis.
  • Connect agents to factory data, APIs, databases, and event-driven triggers so they deliver timely, actionable insights to manufacturing and engineering users.
  • Practice AI-native development: use approved GenAI coding assistants and agents to explore requirements, design solutions, generate code and tests, write documentation, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Test and evaluate agent outputs for accuracy, reliability, security, and production readiness, and improve prompts, skills, and guardrails based on user feedback.
  • Apply secure coding and responsible AI practices, including access control, data protection, and compliance with Seagate's AI and open source usage guidelines.
  • Turn ideas into working prototypes, demo your work at Show & Tell sessions, and iterate quickly with users and mentors.
  • Gain hands-on experience across the AI-native software development lifecycle, mentoring from experienced developers, global teamwork, and a portfolio-ready project with real business impact.

About you:

  • Curious about how AI agents and large language models (LLMs) can solve real engineering and manufacturing challenges.
  • Comfortable with Python and at least one other technology such as JavaScript or TypeScript, Java, or .NET C#.
  • Familiar with REST APIs, databases and SQL, Git, or cloud services such as AWS or Azure through coursework, projects, hackathons, or internships.
  • Interested in GenAI, prompt engineering, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
  • Hands-on, willing to experiment, quick to pick up new AI tools, and comfortable asking questions and learning from feedback.
  • Collaborative, self-motivated, and able to communicate in English.

Your experience includes:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Experience building an AI, agent, chatbot, automation, or data project through university, a hackathon, a personal portfolio, or an internship, ideally using LLM APIs or GenAI tools.
  • Exposure to manufacturing, wafer fab, MES, or other enterprise application environments.
  • Experience with agent frameworks or tools such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, Microsoft Copilot Studio, or MCP servers.
  • Hands-on use of AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, plus automated testing, evaluation, monitoring, or logging tools.
