Role Description: 

Assurance of quality for hard drive components manufactured in Japan. 

 

Support for Principal Components: 

  • Exclusive Source: LDU, Micro-actuator (PZT), CIS-Flex, Slider Substrate 
  • Principal Parts: TGA 
  • Collaborative Support: Assist other SQE members with components whose design centers are in Japan, such as Motor, VCM, and Adhesives.

About the role - you will:

  • Improve the quality of purchased parts. 
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of supplier quality. 
  • Perform audits at supplier manufacturing plants. 
  • Process Control & Improvement: Implement and maintain control measures, and continuously look for ways to optimize and improve processes.  
  • Support post-qualification components: Collaborate with Seagate personnel in other factories to provide support when the quality of parts is in question. 

About you:

  • Educational Requirement: A minimum of a Science or Engineering degree in a relevant field of study. Preferred fields include Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering. 
  • Technical Acumen: Proficiency in statistical analysis, Six Sigma, quality control methodologies, reliability/quality engineering, QC standards, and process improvement techniques. (Deficiencies in knowledge will be addressed through structured training) 
  • Interpersonal Skills: Proficient in supplier communication, including negotiation, problem resolution, and presentation competencies. 
  • Linguistic Ability: TOEIC score of 600 or equivalent experience in English business communication. 
  • Cultural Adaptability: Understanding of Japanese business culture and practices, with the ability to work effectively in a Japanese industrial environment. 
  • Independent Work Capability: Ability to work remotely and independently, managing tasks and responsibilities and deliver high-quality results without direct supervision.

Your experience includes:

Preferred Experience: One to two years of experience in a similar role, ideally with a background in manufacturing and production environments.
