Staff Electrical Engineer

Location: 

Fremont, CA, US

About our group:

 

The Media tester equipment team at Seagate Fremont Research Center is designing and upgrading media testers for media production factory, drive assembly factories.

About the role - you will:

 

  • Work on printed circuit board digital and analog circuit design
  • Create schematic symbols, component geometries and electronic components utilizing Mentor Graphics PADS or similar software
  • Create drawings, Gerber files and other documentation for PCB fabrication, assembly and internal verification
  • Work with design team to identify test failure root cause, implement, and verify corrective actions

Your experience includes:

 

  • Excellent EE fundamentals that will be used to perform system design including analog and digital circuits
  • Experience with FPGA and microprocessor development, including hardware descriptor languages (i.e. Verilog, VHDL) 
  • Experience in printed circuit board digital and analog circuit design
  • Experienced with PADS design tool (Or similar CAD tool )
  • Create schematic symbols, component geometries and electronic components utilizing Mentor Graphics PADS or similar software
  • Create drawings, Gerber files and other documentation for PCB fabrication, assembly and internal verification
  • Work with design team to identify test failure root cause, implement, and verify corrective actions 
  • Experience in debugging issues with electrical circuits and/or electrical test systems utilizing bench top equipment such as DMMs, PSUs, and oscilloscopes, function generators and logic analyzers. 
  • Produce high quality technical documentation that is clearly understandable by manufacturing technicians.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams with mechanical, firmware, software and process engineer to create new and resolve existing software/firmware issues in diverse systems:
    • high speed data handling
    • motion control
    • signal conditioning and processing
  • Drive redesigns of new development PCBA with FPGA/ microcontrollers that resolve root-cause issues and collaborate/perform/lead with other team members in the verification, validation and implementation of the redesigns.
  • Create documentation including, but not limited to design input requirements, engineering specifications, and design verification test protocols.
  • Modify existing equipment to improve product quality, increase part throughput, decrease cost, and strengthen safety measures.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years experience, or Master’s Degree in same and 5+ years experience, or PhD and 3+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
